Pilot Station...
Situated just 5km North of George Town is Australia's oldest continuously
running pilot station. Established in 1805, the building dates from 1835.
This dwelling was built to accommodate four pilots and their families, and
now houses the Maritime Museum, Sir Raymond Ferrall Gallery and Mollymawks
Tearoom. The museum contains 10 rooms of maritime memorabilia and is open
365 days a year. Entry is by donation. The Port of Launceston Authority currently
maintains the station.
