Queen Victoria Museum...
The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery in Launceston has been acclaimed
as one of the best regional museums in Australia. The museum provides a fascinating
view of Tasmania's history and unique natural heritage. The art gallery is
renowned for both its traditional and progressive displays of art, craft and
design. The museum is also home to the Launceston Planetarium, where you may
take a "journey to the stars" and marvel at the galaxies that lie beyond our
own solar system. After viewing the museum, enjoy a light meal or snack at
the Queen Vic Café.
The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery is open 7 days a week from 10:00am
to 5:00pm Monday to Saturday, and 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday. Admission to
the museum is free, although charges may apply for special exhibitions and
activities.
The Launceston Planetarium has shows that commence at 3:00pm Tuesday to Friday,
and at 2:00pm and 3:00pm on Saturday.
Both the Museum and the Planetarium are closed Good Friday and Christmas Day.
